Lewis Hamilton found an impetus in the form of Will Smith as the renowned Hollywood star arrived in Baku to support the seven-time world champion. Smith dropped by the F1 paddock ahead of the 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix qualifying and revealed that Hamilton was the man he was rooting for.
Following the conclusion of the European leg of races, Formula 1 arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan for the 17th race of the 2024 season. Interestingly, this race weekend is also Hamilton’s last race at the Baku City Circuit as a Mercedes driver, and he could not have asked for a better companion than Smith.
Formula 1, from their official X account, shared a video where they interviewed the $350 million worth star (as per Celebrity Net Worth). When asked who he was supporting at the Grand Prix, Smith did not think twice before naming Hamilton. He said:
“Lewis is my guy, Lewis is my guy.”
Notably, Smith was one of the chief guests of Scuderia Ferrari and was spotted inside the Prancing Horse’s garage watching Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
Lewis Hamilton and Will Smith’s Formula 1 connection goes back a long way. The Hollywood star’s promotional event back in 2018 was one where he ‘kidnapped’ the F1 star to drive his car.
