Lewis Hamilton shared his thoughts on his departure from Mercedes as he is all set to leave the team after this season. The legendary seven-time F1 Champion took to this instagram account to share the message. He wrote about his mixed feelings as the season’s end is near. Lewis has been with Mercedes for 12 years and he will be joining Ferrari in 2025.

“Leaving Monza, it hit me that it was the last European race this year. The last time I’ll be in my room in engineering that’s been my home for 12 years. This is such a unique time in my life, one that continues to bring out a lot of emotions. What I feel the most is pride and gratitude. The memories will last forever, as will the memories I make next year,” he wrote.

Ahead of the upcoming Grand Prix, it has been officially announced that talented 18-year-old prodigy Kimi Antonelli will replace Lewis’s position at Mercedes for the next season. He shared his two cents on Kimi.

“I mean, I’ve known for ages so… But definitely this morning, I knew it would be announced this morning, and I definitely woke up and it was very surreal. Just to have it officially confirmed my seat is going and that I’ve held on for it for so long. I was quite emotional this morning. But really happy for Kimi and for this team. I know Kimi is going to do a great job. He’s a great kid and he’s got a good family around him and a good head on his shoulders. Very talented. He’s going to do great, I’m very excited for him,” the seven-time F1 champion added.

 Hamilton’s Historic deal

Hamilton joined Mercedes in 2013, stepping in for one of the greatest of the sport Michael Schumacher. He spent 12 years in Mercedes before aligning a deal with Ferrari. He will replace Carlos Sainz in Ferrari, Charles Leclerc signed a new contract with Ferrari last week and will be Hamilton’s team-mate at Ferrari from next year. The seven-time world champion is the most successful driver in F1 history with 103 wins and 104 pole positions.
