Over the years, Lewis Hamilton has helped steer Formula 1 into a much cooler, hype-ier place. Because not only is he one of the greatest racing drivers on the planet, he’s also one of the best dressers in the universe. F1 used to be all about leather moto jackets and matching pants, all decked out with thousands and thousands of tiny logos. But these days, the track looks more and more like a menswear show, and we have The Billion Dollar Man to thank for that.
After taking a wee break at the US Open last weekend, Hamilton was spotted on the paddocks of the Baku City Circuit getting pumped up for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The seven-time Championship winner pulled up in a creamy white chore jacket by Zegna that was made from all sorts of lush materials like wool and cashmere and calfskin leather. It was fitted with some big collars and some even bigger patch pockets, and for extra cosy points, the British racer got it in a size bigger than his usual.

Hamilton then jumped into some matching trousers that puddled around the ankles (also by Zegna, btw) and a pair of chunky suede shoes. He then threw on the Vera sunglasses by Jacques Marie Mage, which has long been the go-to eyewear label for some of the most famous guys in history. Chris Hemsworth can’t get enough of ’em. Pierce Brosnan, too. And Daniel Craig rocked a pair too at the Venice Film Festival just a few weeks ago.
While Lewis Hamilton has traditionally been a Rick Owens man, recently, he’s become more experimental with his wardrobe. During the Formula 1 World Championship in Monaco, he was a big fan of eco label Botter. And earlier this month, he went all corpcore on us with a waistcoat and trouser combo by Burberry.
It’s a good lesson for all dudes, really. Why? Because life is short, and every time we get the chance to, we should be having as much fun with our menswear as we possibly can.
