In 2022, Lewis Hamilton shared a glimpse of his Bahrain Grand Prix helmet on Instagram and posted a series of photos. However, Lando Norris, his F1 rival, decided to take a slight dig at the Mercedes driver, which prompted Hamilton to respond with another jibe.
Ahead of the 2022 season opener in Bahrain, Hamilton revealed his helmet on social media. The bright yellowish neon helmet had tints of green, black, and blue, thanks to the sponsorship from Monster Energy, Crowdstrike, and TBC.
Interestingly, the helmet’s color was strikingly similar to the one Norris (worth $30M as per Celebrity Networth) uses in Formula 1, the same yellowish neon-colored helmet with LN and OKX branding. When Norris saw Hamilton unveil his helmet that matched the color, the McLaren star could not wait to make fun of it.

Norris shared the photo to the story section of his official Instagram account, tagged Hamilton, and captioned it,
“Thanks for the helmet tribute to me @lewishamilton.”
Replying to the story, the Silver Arrows Ace wrote,
“Well, actually I was using yellow before you were born so in retrospect, yours is a tribute to me. Respect,” Hamilton wrote.
Notably, Lewis Hamilton regards his helmets very highly and considers them as a part of his heritage. In an interview with GQ last year, the seven-time world champion disclosed that he also refuses to sign the helmets for fans and does not agree to giveaways.
Coming into 2024, Lewis Hamilton is competing in the 18th F1 season of his career and is not in contention for the championship run. Lando Norris, however, is right into the title fight against Max Verstappen as he trails the Dutch by 52 points after the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix.
