Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton shared one of the most impactful memories with his father Anthony Hamilton. The 38-year-old racing legend spoke about the special moment during a recent fan interaction.
Since his debut in Formula 1, Hamilton is known for his sheer determination and ability to stay focused even in not-so-ideal situations. This propeled the Stevenage-based racer to be counted among sports icons such as Michael Schumacher, Aryton Senna, and a few others. Apart from equaling Schumacher’s record of most world championships, Hamilton currently holds the record for most wins (105) and pole positions (104).
At a recent fan engagement by Mercedes-AMG, both Hamilton and his teammate George Russell were present for a special Q&A session. The 7x world champion shared one of the most impactful moments he had with his father.
“The most impactful one for me as a kid was when I got out of the boxing ring. I was training at the boxing ring. My dad put me in the ring with some other kid. I think I was eight, seven or eight, and he was like nine, but the same height. And this kid beat the life out of me. He beat me up in the first time we were in the boxing ring together and my nose was bleeding when I came out. And I was like, Dad, I don’t want to go back in there. And he told me to never give up. And I went back in and I beat the kid in the next round. And it kind of, that stuck with me forever,” he said.
The aforementioned interaction was shared by an F1 and Hamilton fan on X. Here’s a look at the post, captioned:
