Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce shared on the latest episode of the New Heights podcast that he felt immense support from Taylor Swift and her family during the Chiefs’ nail-biting 26-25 win over the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday.
Kelce, who co-hosts the podcast with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, expressed gratitude towards Swift’s family for attending the game at Arrowhead Stadium.
“It was a great experience for me,” Kelce said, recalling his initial surprise upon learning that Swift’s family was in the VIP box to cheer him on.
While the presence of the global pop star’s family initially added pressure, Kelce noted that it soon turned into a source of encouragement. “Having that support was awesome,” the tight end shared, thanking the family members for making the trip to Kansas City.
Kelce’s performance this season has been under the spotlight, especially given his high-profile relationship with Swift. Despite the Chiefs’ back-to-back victories, Kelce admitted he has been struggling on the field in the early stages of the season. Over the first two games, the eight-time Pro Bowler has recorded just four receptions for 39 yards, far below the numbers fans have come to expect from one of the NFL’s top tight ends.
Although Kelce has been critical of his own performance, he remains focused on improving in the coming weeks. “I haven’t hit my stride yet, but I’m working on it,” he said on the podcast. He acknowledged the pressure that comes with being both a Super Bowl champion and a key figure in the Chiefs’ offense, but expressed optimism about turning things around.
Kelce has become one of the most recognizable faces in football, and his fame has only grown since his relationship with Swift went public. However, the Chiefs star remains focused on his play and helping his team defend their title. With three Super Bowl victories already under his belt, Kelce is determined to maintain his high level of performance.
Swift, who attended the Chiefs’ game with her family, left Kansas City on Tuesday morning via private jet. While Kelce would have liked to spend more time with his girlfriend, he is now concentrating on preparing for the Chiefs’ upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons. Swift, meanwhile, is continuing her professional commitments during a break from her ongoing Eras Tour.
The Chiefs are set to face the Falcons on Sunday, September 22, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for a Sunday Night Football showdown. Fans are eagerly awaiting whether Kelce will regain his top form and help Kansas City secure another victory as they aim for a fourth Super Bowl win under Patrick Mahomes’ leadership.
